Following is a rough idea of a Water Bucket Measuring device. If you do use it and have any suggestions, please let us know and send a photo! This is only an idea and is not necessary to run the Championship.
The following ideas are not set rules, but rather ideas that others have come up with that you are free to use if they help. If you have any good ideas, send them in and we can include them in later editions: Create a sense of hype amongst the teams If you can create a lot of excitement around the competition by playing loud music and treating this as the serious competition that it is, the children will enjoy the spectacle that it is.
Option 1 - If you are playing with many teams, a good idea is to play it as a “knock-out” competition. Below is one alternative to play the game with only a few rounds. Make sure there is a referee and measuring jug for each group of teams.
Option 2 - Alternatively you can have all teams playing one or more rounds and then having the best 3-6 teams from the whole group compete in a Grand Final.
Option 3 – Have a qualifying game on a day prior to the Closing Ceremony and then have the winning teams only competing at the Ceremony.
Option 4 – If you have a smaller number of churches or groups involved, you could arrange the pools so that each church has a team in the Grand Final. This would keep every child’s interest until the end as they wait for the scoring of their team.
